Painting is my job. I never buy clothes, shoes or bags of famous brands, yet I respect people who do, as I understand that feeling. Most of the time, I use home-made paint and drawing paper but once in a while I will buy a couple tins of imported paint at thousands Yuan and draw with great paper, which feels really good.

My partner is a writer, and a good one, but he never writes with a computer. He says that he enjoys writing with a pen. Of course, his pens are all top brands and write well. What’s interesting is that if he uses poor quality pens such as the type that is apt to leak or not easy to hold, he won’t be able to deliver anything. Even he does come up with some articles, they won’t be beautiful.

I also have friends engaging in the fields of music and photography. For them, the quality of a piece of music and photos done by different machines and cameras really differ. Sometimes you just can’t ignore the imperceptible influence of brand names on people.

Or perhaps this is the value of brands. Yes it is true that people consuming luxury is buying a good feeling. If two young ladies carrying a same Louis Vuitton bag standing in front of me, I definitely am better disposed towards the one with an authentic LV; while the other one, I will remain distrustful in the coming intercourse with her if I know her LV bag is a fake as I feel cheated by her behavior.
